Friends of Hinterland

Friends of Hinterland, 2009, letterpress printed pop-up book, 6.5” X 6.75” X 1.0”

This book was created during an artist residency at Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina. Being nostalgic about the Canadian National Film Board’s Hinterland’s Who’s Who, I decided to research and create a book piece based on six animals of Canadian wildlife: caribou, coho salmon, snowy owl, monarch butterfly, leatherback turtle and Canada goose. This book was first time experience typesetting and letterpress printing on a Vandercook press; I never looked back.
